Brooklyn � Council Member Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn) announced that the IRS is reaching out to recipients of Social Security Benefits, Veterans Benefits, and Railroad Retirement Benefits who are eligible for economic stimulus payments, but have yet to receive them because they do not usually file a Federal Income Tax Return.
"It's your money, but it's up to you to file a tax return to collect it," says Councilmember Simcha Felder of the 44th district.� "If you or your loved ones receive Federal benefits, take the time to fill out your tax returns, even if you normally do not have to."
In Felder's district alone, there are over 1400 eligible recipients who have yet to claim their stimulus funding.� Recipients need to file their tax return by October 15, 2008.
