Passaic Family Safe After Fire Damages Their Home; Possibly Chanukah Related

Passaic Family Safe After Fire Damages Their Home; Possibly Chanukah Related

More than 40 firefighters from Passaic and Bergen counties battled a three-alarm fire Wednesday that heavily damaged a large Victorian house at 114 High St.

Fire officials said nobody was injured in the Passaic Park neighborhood blaze, which took firefighters more than two hours to bring under control.

Deputy fire Chief Martocci, said the call was received just after 6 p.m. Emergency responders from Paterson, Clifton and Carlstadt joined 20 Passaic firefighters.

Neighbors reported that the family was Boruch Hashem safe, but sources tell YWN that the family was not home at the time of the blaze - leaving suspicion that their Chanukah menorah was left unattended.

The cause of the fire was under investigation Wednesday night.
