7:40AM IL � Update on the Wounded in Gaza Operation

Following is a Sunday morning update on the wounded among IDF soldiers involved in the fighting in Gaza.

SOROKA HOSPITAL � BEERSHEVA

The first wounded began arriving at about 1:00am, landing in two choppers. There were two seriously injured in the group, suffering from shrapnel and gunshot wounds. They were taken into emergency surgery the director of trauma medicine, Dr. Gadi Shaked reports that Baruch Hashem, their condition has improved significantly following the emergency surgical intervention.

There are also two soldiers listed in moderate/stable condition, with one admitted to the thoracic unit and the other to the ear, nose and throat unit, both with shrapnel and other wounds including some demanding orthopedic intervention. The remainder is listed in light condition.

SHEBA MEDICAL CENTER AT TEL HASHOMER HOSPITAL � TEL AVIV

Two soldiers arrived during the night; both listed in light condition Baruch Hashem reports Dr. Arnon Ofek, the deputy director of the hospital.

Dr. Shaked reports that Soroka is on emergency status and a situation room is in full swing, maintaining constant contact with the appropriate IDF officials. The hospital has also cleared as many beds as possible in the event there will be additional injured chas v�sholom.
