Acting on accurate intelligence information earlier on Wednesday afternoon, the IAF�killed senior Gazan terrorist leader Nizar Rayyan, who is known for his outspoken calls to renew suicide bombing attacks against Israel.
The IAF confirmed a direct strike, and PA (Palestinian Authority) sources report that a number of others were killed in the surgical strike as well.
Channel 10 reported that Rayyan was the "mufti" of Hamas's military wing and had replaced Sheikh Ahmed Yassin as the organization's top clerical authority after Yassin's assassination by the IAF in 2004.
Palestinian medics told the Jerusalem Post�that seven people were killed and around 30 were wounded in the air strike. Ynet reported that four people were killed with him - including members of his family.
