Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni on Thursday told French President Nicolas Sarkozy that Jerusalem rejects Paris calls for a humanitarian ceasefire, explaining there is no humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and therefore, there is no need for a humanitarian pause in the IDF offensive.
Livni furnished French officials with information regarding Israels efforts to permit humanitarian aide into Gaza, stating Israel can no longer tolerate the threat to the southern areas of the country from the Hamas regime in Gaza.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner told Livni his country views Hamas a terror organization, calling on Hamas to halt rocket fire from Gaza into southern Israel.
Remaining firm, Livni defended Israel right to protect its citizens, stating the military offensive will continue.
