YWN regrets to inform you of the Petira of Degel HaTorah leader Rabbi Avraham Ravitz Z"L (age 74), at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Yerushalayim.
Just recently YWN had reported that his condition had been serious, and he was reportedly in-and-out of the hospital.
In November of 2008, the long-time�Degel HaTorah leader and veteran MK announced that he had decided to leave the political arena. He said he would�not be seeking reelection on the United Torah Judaism slate in the upcoming election for the 18th Knesset.
Ravitz began his Knesset career in the 12th Knesset in 1988, and since then, has held numerous posts including; deputy minister of housing & construction, welfare & social services, education, as well as chairman of the finance committee and a member of many other committees.
