When MDA paramedics rushed to save people wounded in a terrorist attack this morning, they didn't have the luxury of waiting for the shooting to stop.

Photo of the blood-stained floor at the scene of the terrorist attack. When terrorists attacked worshippers in a Jerusalem synagogue this morning, MDA paramedics rushed to the scene, some straight from their homes nearby, putting them instantly in the line of fire. Four worshippers died, and seven people, including two police officers, were rushed to local hospitals by MDA, which also supplied nearly 200 units of blood for the injured. An MDA paramedic sustained a broken leg diving for cover when he came under fire.

Responding to the attack before the scene was secured meant the difference between a victim surviving or bleeding to death awaiting medical help. But when you value life above all, some risks are worth taking. We don't know what the next days and weeks will bring to the people of Israel. But we do know we'll be ready.
