Councilman Simcha Felder (D-Brooklyn) has spoken out against Mayor Bloombergs proposal to eliminate both the 7% property tax break put in place last year and this years $400 property tax rebate for homeowners. He got twenty of his colleagues to sign onto a letter addressed to the Mayor voicing opposition to any property tax hike.

"No one is disputing that the City faces tough economic times. Homeowners are experiencing this economic downturn firsthand,? said Felder. "It is not right to turn to homeowners at a time when many are struggling to make ends meet. We must be responsible and do more with less.?
