Following the carnage at the Mumbai Chabad House, MK (UTJ) Rav Yaakov Litzman has filed a request with Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, that the ministry accept responsibility for protecting Chabad houses around the world.
He stated that the attack once again serves as a reminder of the constant threat, pointing out there are Chabad houses around the world, including some of the most remote locations.
He points out that diplomatic and officials security officials around the world benefit from Chabad houses and their staff, providing religious assistance and services to many operating in an official capacity.
Rav Litzman points out Chabad�s mesirus nefesh to assist all Jews wherever they may be, further stating we must do whatever necessary to ensure this vital institution is permitted to continue, expressing his opinion that it is incumbent on the State of Israel to undertake the security burden for the Chabad emissaries around the world.
