Shin Bet: No Flights to Zanzibar, Kenya & Tanzania

Shin Bet: No Flights to Zanzibar, Kenya & Tanzania

Concerned over a possible terror attack against an Israeli plane, the ISA (Israel Security Agency Shin Bet) has prohibited Sandor Airline from continuing commercial flights to Zanzibar, Kenya and Tanzania. Restrictions have also been placed on the airlines flights to Turkey due to mounting threats.

Perhaps somewhat ironic, flights are permitted to Nigeria, but this may not be actualized since the local government will not permit Israeli security personal in the country.

Sandor, an affiliate of El Al, is seeking to expand services but company director Betzalel Kravet states that he understands the security concerns and the decision to prohibit the flights, but nonetheless, explains this reality severely limits the airlines growth potential.

This does not mark the first time that such a step has been taken. In 2002, Arkia flights to Kenya were halted due to security considerations.
